HUANG Hsiao-Hui : "9 portraits"

In this exhibition, I set out 9 (of no special significance) different coloured / textured head magnets in a row to eye level. Each head was placed onto a white square magnet (22 x 21cm), with a thin black frame around it. The clean white background had a more serious look (than the black background in the Painting Show) but at the same time, it also reminded me of the nice shining fridge surface (I actually tried those portraits out on the fridge first and thought about the possibility of bring in the fridge as part of my work. But that would bring yet another dimension to my work and at this stage I would like to keep it as simple as possible.) That, to the contrary, gave those portraits a "cheap" look, and that was why by giving each portrait a thin black frame worked well. The frame brought them all together as one work and set a limited space for interaction.
