30/1/10 : Seafood Festival

All right.

Never thought I would go to the Seafood Festival, not that I don't like seafood, but when you think about it: 15$ to get in, and you still need to buy everything you eat.. NAH.

HEY!

But it was actually worth it!! The food was pretty cheap so it worked out fine, saved heaps than going to the restos! We had lots of prawn skewers, bowls of mussels, and some oysters. Not that many varieties to choose from actually, but at least we were extremely well-fed.

The Making of a House-man: 1) Tom Yum Soup & Park'n'Chive Dumplings

This is seafood soup made with Tom Yum paste, also known as commercial Tom Yum Soup

Home-made dumplings with 'plastic' pastry (what! no!)
It is as much about the making as the eating

grilled eeeeel

Yea, I love eels, grilled in particular.
Had the grilled eel lunch box in Sala Sala today, was O.K. A bit too sweet actually, I thought. Too much sauce, since the eel was already explosive of flavours there's not much need in adding excessive sauce for the rice. Was dessert rice really.
Miso soup a bit weird?? didn't seem all that fresh?? I prefer darker miso.
soft and tender super green green tea ice cream, alright eh. I feel like some crêpes...
Was good lunch though. Thank you, my quiche.

25/05 Dinner get2gether

A friend from Christchurch deserves a meal at my flat.. The menu is simple: Prawn Cocktail Salad, Sushi, Chicken Nibbles, and Fruit Salad. Just the sushi takes a bit more time, otherwise all good.

Prawn Cocktail Salad

Iceberg lettuce cut into cups;
Some prawns (fresh or frozen);
Some mango (canned or fresh);

Dressing
mayo, mustard, and tomato sauce

Mix stuff together and fit in lettuce cups, fresh herbs for deco.
Thanks Olly.

Sushi
Cooked rice mixed with vinegar, sugar, and salt to taste; Salmon (smoked or fresh); 1 fully riped avocado; Eggs mix with milk, and some sugar and salt to taste. Heat pan and fry in flat pan on low heat, stir briskly until set. Roll into some kind of thick wuteva. Cut into strips.

Use a bamboo sushi roller, place seaweed sheet on top. Cover at least 2/3 of the seaweed sheet with rice, put ingredients in the centre and use whatever means to roll it up.. Cut into desired size, sprinkle roasted sesame for deco.

Chicken Nibbles

Cut off any excessive fat/skin from the nibbles, cook them in seasoned boiling water for 5 mins.
Take them out and leave cool, season well.
Grill on high until lightly burnt.
